We understand that moving house can be a stressful time, with lots of things to remember to do and change. We’re on hand to make sure you tick – and pack – all the boxes! Use our checklist below to make sure you remember everything.
Have you…?
- Booked a removal company
- Arranged to have your meters read – or do this yourself – on completion day at your old and new homes. Make sure you contact your water and energy suppliers with the readings
- Insured your new home from the exchange of contracts, keeping the insurance on your current home until completion date
- Updated your TV Licence with your new address
- Told your local council about your change of address for Council Tax purposes
- Told the DVLA about your change of address for any car registered at your home and for your driving licence
- Cancelled the Direct Debit or standing order for your old home’s mortgage or rent payments. You shouldn’t do this before completion though, as you may still owe money on the property
- Handed in your notice if you are in rented accommodation
- Got your mail redirected through Royal Mail
- Informed your telephone and broadband provider
- Told other organisations about your change of address, such as: your bank, employer, trade union, doctor and dentist
